JOB TITLE: Chemical Process Technician I (Pilot Group)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • This position will entail working within our Pilot and Solution-QC team with some support to our Engineering, R&D, and Coating groups as the work priorities develop.
  • The position entails working in a high paced environment under limited supervision, following standard operating procedures in making our carbon nanotube solutions and supporting materials.
  • This position is for second shift. Work will take place in a clean room environment and may include some or all of the following:
    • Operating batch centrifugation and cleaning of centrifuge equipment.
    • Operating multiple filtration systems, troubleshooting, and cleaning of the systems.
    • Assembling/disassembling of various filtration systems, reactors, condensers, and associated parts to maintain equipment in a pilot and R&D environment.
    • Help to write and develop process SOPs.
    • Testing of various wet chemistry properties such as pH, optical density, conductivity, etc.
    • Recording and documenting data into a database system as well as keeping a lab notebook.
    • Following an SOP, perform Solution-QC testing on in-process pilot batches as well as final solution lots.
      • May entail testing, pH, optical density, adhesion testing, TGA analysis, coating thin films, particle counts.
    • Will be working with carbon nanotubes, acids, bases, and other chemicals in a laboratory environment on a daily basis.
    • Executing planned experiments.
    • Maintaining inventory of certain lab supplies.

Required Qualifications

  • Education:  Associate degree in Science or 2-5 years of equivalent work experience.
  • Experience working in a clean room environment with working knowledge of particle and micro contamination control, process control, and basic chemistry desirable.
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel, word, power point, and entering data into a database.
  • Experience with micro-filtration and centrifugation is preferred, but not necessary.
  • Work time flexibility, this is a 2nd shift position, but may also involve occasional 1st shift, 3rd shift and weekend shifts as required by production demands
  • Ability to work with little supervision or guidance.
  • Ability to move/lift 45lbs
  • Ability to work in a clean room environment for 8-10hrs a day.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator.
