JOB TITLE: Sr. Research Scientist-Metrology

 

Job Description:

 

Develop protocols for detailed characterization of structure, electrical, and physical properties of carbon nanotube colloidal formulations/resulting carbon nanotube thin film fabrics core to Nantero’s technology; use electrochemistry/electrochemical techniques (cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, constant current charge/discharge, chronoamperometry, self-discharge measurements); use scanning probe microscopy techniques (atomic force microscopy); use tapping/contact modes in air/fluids; perform in-situ atomic force microscopy under electrochemical control; obtain/interpret surface analyses (AFM, SEM, XPS, XRD, Raman, FTIR, Film Stress); scan probe microscopies (Kelvin Probe, Conductive AFM, Tapping Mode, MFM, Contact); perform electrical characterization of thin film materials/test structures (Sheet resistance, DCIV, pulsed techniques); perform electrochemical characterization of thin film materials/substrates [cyclic voltammetry and DC corrosion test methods (polarization, potentiostatic, galvanic)]; design, develop, and document new/improved analytical methods to guide measurement activities in R&D, Pilot Plant, and characterization efforts; generate revision controlled standard operating procedures for manufacturing QC and detailed technical work-up of data to support R&D new product development and trouble-shooting; perform statistical analyses, graphing, and presentation of large data sets; work with Characterization Lead/Nantero’s Senior Management to develop a robust QC plan (recommend equipment/resources); work with Analytical Group Lead on timely execution of group’s research/QC agenda; provide technical supervision of QC personnel for analysis of materials and maintenance/preparation of laboratory; provide technical guidance to QC technical team for experiment design, scheduling, work prioritization; use optical/scanning electron microscopy, standard wet and electrical measurements of thin films and details of image analysis; conduct multiple tasks (Gannt methods, DoE techniques); generate high quality reports/presentation materials; prepare figures/ presentations; ensure meticulous management of QC database and ISO 9001 level commitment to process execution; participate in strategic/tactical discussions for development of new enabling materials; communicate with Pilot, R&D as well as thin film applications groups within Nantero, and interact with technical/business development groups within Nantero and international customer base.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Ph.D. degree or foreign equivalent in Materials Chemistry, Materials Science and Engineering, or Chemistry, plus 3 years experience. Experience to include electrochemistry/electrochemical techniques (cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, constant current charge/discharge, chronoamperometry); using scanning probe microscopy techniques (atomic force microscopy); and tapping/contact modes in air and fluids and in-situ atomic force microscopy under electrochemical control.
